I pulled out of the drive and went down the street, stopped at the stop sign, when I took off the car felt like it jumped into N, pushed on gas-- nothing. Shut the car off, turned back on- I now have all gears except R. Oil was dark but did not smell burnt. Dropped pan, to see if something broke and fell into it-- nothing. Filter did have some very small fine shavings.

i have a 1997 hyundai elantra 1.8 litre. i have the same problem. i got up on a saturday morning to go to work. backed out  and proceeded forward, i stopped and got on highway ,i stepped on gas & nothing ,i took kit out of OD & i was able to move forward but no reverse. i dropped the tranny and looked inside and i found that the kick down band drum teeth had been shredded , so i replaced it. then i found out that i still had no reverse  so i was  determined to fine out  my leads fine that the kickdown servo switch may be defective. do u have an answer. please reply
