i currently have a 1997 jeep cherokee sport with a 4.0 inline 6 cyl. and it is leaking oil around the housing of the oil filter.i do know that the filter is not leaking but according to the the chilton's manuel there is a 90 degree adaptor coming off of the engine block that is not noted in the manuel. the leak would apear to be perpendicular to the filter yet parallel to the block. would this be an add on or after market piece?
the leak is not great, yet i like to keep a clean engine compartment and any help would be greatly appreciated.

that is a factory oil filter adapter ,just remove and replace the orings, you can pick the orings up at any parts store or your local dealer.
