I need to change the front wheel bearings on a 2002 Dodge Caravan. Does anyon ehave experience doing this? Do I need to take the hub off and have the bearing pressed out? How involved is this? Tires Plus wants $60 for parts and $350 for labor. It seems a little steep to me. Thank you for your help.

Sounds funny. The wheel bearing is an entire hub *** complete with new lug studs. The can sell for as high as $300 retail to $200. They are expensive and labor to put one in is around 1- 1.5 hrs. I looked but couldn't find it in my new chiultons program. But anyways it takes me about 30 mins if thast to put one in. You got 3 bolts from the backside where the cv shaft goes through and a center halfshaft nut that holds the preload on the bearing. I bel;ieve either tires plus told you wrong or your mixed up on the parts and labor. $60 for labor and $350 for the bearing sounds aboiut right. Sorry but they are expensive. Thats the way it is. I wouldn't attempt it yourself unless you have a good knowledge of repairing things and a good array of tools. It takes a 34 mm socket for the halfshaft nut. Cory
