I was helping pull a neighbor out in 4 wheel lo during a storm and forgot the right way to go back to 2 wheel high. I blew a fuse for the transfer case and replaced it. It blew a few more times and after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. The fuse stayed on and then the service 4 wheel drive light is on and I am stuck in four wheel and none of my indicatot lights for my four wheel buttons light. Help!!!

not an answer but similar problem i'm working on. 1999 Suburban K2500 recently started blowing the #2 fuse in the fuse block next to the driver's door that supports the 4wd system. My situation is that the fuse blew last week for the first time after a simple 4HI drive across a lawn i didn't want to tear up. Put back to 2Hi and then later in the day the dash buttons quit working and the indicator light wouldn't light. I found that the fuse was blown so replaced it. System worked again until i drove in 4Auto for a half mile or so on icy roads. Fuse blown again. I'm wondering where to start tracing this....
My only suggestion for your problem would be change the fuse then quickly press the 2hi button before you do anything else - may even have the vehicle off w/ the key on. The hope would be that the 4wd would disengage before the fuse blows again.
