Hi Group;
Just picked up a 1993 Grand Cherokee Limited Edition in great shape w/ 90K, but with a "inoperable" OEM Chrysler Radio/CD. Power good to audio unit, with EQ button lit, CD mechanicals operational, but with no FM/AM or led display. When CD is in unit, volume has to be cranked WAY UP, and sounds like like a walkie talkie! No FM/AM operational.
Purchased a new updated Aftermarket CD/FM/AM, hooked up and still got the same tinny sound with volume up all the way. Can hardly hear it. OEM speakers are listed in doors and dash as "Jensen". I can't find an Infinity Amp under the right rear seat either,...just the jack and tire tools. Any ideas?
- Shorted speaker wire somewhere? Even hooking up speakers one at a time still only gets me the "tinny walkie talk sound". - Didn't this year have the Infinity Amp, or was that special order? Thanks for any input!

Interresting.... I have also just purchased this same vehicle and have a similar issue.
My radio LEDs are dark. Radio and CD operate intermittantly. The CD actually stops for a second or two then picks up where it left off. It is as if the power is being removed.
I have not yet checked for stable power to the unit, but the lack of LEDs suggest that the problem may be in the radio itself. The fact that you replaced the radio and have the same problems may mean that you have a different issue than I have.
Anyway, I will mark this and check back and post any success or failure that I have. I hope you will do the same.
