Hello members
I have a VW Polo Auto, it's a 2001 UK model, and a year ago, along with my Quantum 10w/40 Synta silver 'Semi'oil, i put in the required amount of a product called Extralube ZX1.

A year on, and after it's first required service in being in my possession, my service garage used Shell Helix Plus, it's an oil with the same 10w/40 spec, and again a semi-synthetic, they seem to think it's a better oil for the car, and the way my particular engine runs and sounds (hydraulic tappets), now, i am happy with the result, and i think there is a positive difference with the new oil.

I did send an email to the Extralube ZX1 company, and explained that i now was using Shell helix Plus engine oil, and that i wished to add the ZX1 to it, they replied that it would be fully compatible, with no known issues, or problems.

The only problem i now have is, that the level of the oil is at the 'MAX' mark, and i'm wooried if i add the ZX1 product, i'll be overfilling it, the amount which i need to add 100 ml, which is not a great deal.

Do those members that are using it in there cars, and particularly VW Polo owners, which added ZX1 under the same circumstances find that adding it at a 'max' oil level, was ok, and did not effect the engine sound or performance, and without causing damage to the exhaust system because of going fractionally above the full point.

I do realize there is a 'blank' emergency safe area just above the 'hatched' area on the oil dip stick, and that the 'max' point is the end of this hatched area, but the VW car manual states that going into this area means that it's over filled.

If anyone could lay any worries to rest i'd be grateful, and please, members who's only comments would be negative against there so called lable 'Snake-oil' products, need not make any.

My personal experiance of the ZX1 product, is that for me it made a difference.

Users and those that have overfilled a VW Polo in the past, your advice is most welcome.

Kind regards
Livio
