Hi! My Mazda 3 has been leased. It's not even 6 months old. I was away for 1 month and parked in on a slope behind my house. The front of the car was facing downhill. When I returned, I discovered 5L of water in the driver's side floor and the passenger's side was drenched as well. I assumed that it was water as there was no odour and it rains a lot in Vancouver. Got the car towed to the dealership. I have been told that the leak was in the trunk (which was wet as well) due to a manufacturer's defect involving the improper sealing of the trunk/frame?
I've been told that they will fix the problem and return the car to me in a day. Could this problem be a serious enough that I should ask for a new car? Does anyone know of future complications which may arise as a result of this?
I am not too sure of my rights as leasee. Can I demand for a new car due to the manufacturer's defect? Is there a safety concern?
Thank you..... I appreciate any help I can get!
