"TUPELO - Either consumers don't believe today's inflated gasoline prices will stick or they haven't yet grown accustomed to them, say several automobile dealers in Northeast Mississippi.
Contrary to small-vehicle buying trends during last summer's oil spike, people still are buying large trucks and SUVs in record number - for now."

I'll admit I'm not surprised. I know I don't think of fuel economy when I look at the Mazda CX-7 or any other SUV.
What about y'all? Do gas prices afffect your decision to buy an SUV or even truck?

high gas prices suck but they havent yet affected my behavior nor really the behavior of most consumers. reason is that although $3 sucks the fact is that for a consumer that makes $1500 a month an extra dollar per gallon represents maybe another $50-100 a month in costs and that is still less than 10% of income - the average person could cut out a starbucks each day and save back that money - so I think it sucks and its inconvenient but i dont think people will change their behavior day to day until you get to something like $5 or $6 per gallon - which is what you have in Europe
