Per the owner's manual, my 2003 Jaguar S-Type should be maintained every 10,000 miles (including oil change, etc.) However, my local mechanic says oil change, etc should be performed every 3,000 miles.   Who is correct?     Does my mechanic know more than Jaguar?

Some if not many newer cars manuals state the allowance of oil changes to every 7000 or longer. However if you consider the price of a change
{avg. $ 17-25} and to keep engine wear and build up to the most minimum I would recommend changes every 3000 especially true in climates where it gets cold in the winter. For sure in cold weather the most wear occurs in the first few seconds of start up.

Jaguar specifies the minimum maint schedule that needs to be performed to keep the manufactures warranty, if you just wish to do the minimum thats ok...but I still would change my oil every 3-5k depending on oil used..
