Please pass this on THE PROPOSED SETTLEMENT IS GOING TO BE A *** UP TO 50% OFF- PRORATED ON YOUR NEW PAX TIRE IF YOUR OLD ONE DOES NOT GET 36000 MILES. PLEASE REJECT THIS PREPOSTEROUS SETTLEMENT. THE ONLY WINNERS ARE THE LAW FIRM AND HONDA. WE GET NOTHING. WE ARE STILL STUCH WITH THESE PAX TIRES. THE LAW FIRM DOES NOT HAVE A REAL CLASS, ONLY TWO PARTICIPANTS. IF YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH YOU WILL SEE THAT A BUNCH OF LAW FIRMS GET TOGETHER, AGREE TO SPLIT THEIR FEE, AND IN RETURN NO ONE ELSE FILES A COMPETING LAWSUIT. SO WE GET SCREWED. YOU MUST WRITE TO THE JUDGE. TELL HIM YOUR CONCERN: THAT THEIR IS NO CLASS REPRESENTED BY THE LAWFIRMS, THAT THE PROPOSED SETTLEMENT DOES NOT IN ANY REPRESENT THE RIGHTS OF THE PROPOSED CLASS MEMBERS, AND ONLY SERVES TO ENRICH BOTH HONDA AND THE FIRMS. FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND URGE THEM TO COLLABERATE WITH THEIR STATE COUNTERPARTS TO FORCE AN EQUITABLE SETTLEMENT FOR THE PEOPLE EFFECTED BY THESE HORRIBLE TIRES.
THANKS,
ANDREW BOYLE

If you live in the Asheville,nc area Mike Smith at Smith Family Tire can depax your odyssey. Had my wifes 05 done yesterday. Mike Smith is a Pro when it comes to tires and wheels. Went to the shop a few days before and order the tires and wheel. Mike called me on the 3rd morning on a friday. Told me tires and wheels were there. I had to work friday so, i told mike i would come by saturday. Arrived at Smith family Tire at 8:30 was leaving at 10:00 smiling, with no more pax tires on the odyssey. The wheel my wife chose looks better than the originals but similar in style. There are several to choose from in wheel tire combinations. I chose the 17inch because this close to what she had. The cost to depax your odyssey should be around $1000.00 depending on what wheel and tire you choose. If you wish to keep the pax tires on the pax wheels please tell mike. If your keeping the tires you will have to buy new tire pressure sensors (tps). If you dont want the tires they will cut a hole in them to retrieve the existing sensors using them in the new wheel. At no cost, if there working why not use them. If you want to step up to an 18inch wheel it will cost you more and there is not as good as tire selection. If your driving in the asheville area stop by and see Mike at Smith Family Tire 5455 Old Haywood Rd. Its off of airport rd and near the end of brevard rd in mills river. Do a search for Smith Family Tire you should find his phone#. Glad i did!

I do not live in NJ but in NY. I have a 2005 Honda Touring with 45,000 miles and have replaced all my tires 2x. The tires wear every 15,000 miles. Thank goodness the dealership has replaced them free of charge (under warranty). My warranty is expired and now I need new tires again. I am trying to decide whether to get the new tire system (for $1,800) or get another van. It is very frustrating that Michelin does not do anything with these tires. The dealership said that Michelin made a mistake to put that type of tire on a car that is so heavy. I wonder if it is worth putting the money into the new tire system and where do I put the spare tire? This is a total scam.

The Spare Tire slot is still in the back of your Odyessy on the drivers side, just open up the panel (your manual should have instructions if you need them).  My spare fits perfectly...

I hope that helps...

I paid my Odyssey off already so making the tire/rim changes instead of buying a new Odyssey in todays economy was a no brainer.

Hello everyone. Anybody know if Honda will be taking care of this issue with the pax tires? I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring with 27,000 miles and my tires are almost bald. Is there any lawsuit going on? Are there any settlements? Please help. Thanks

I just de-paxed my Honda Touring with a set of 2009 EX rims and Goodyear tires size "235-65/16 " at my local Honda dealership in Greenville NC,

Some other Honda dealerships just wanted to sell me more pax tires, no way! They only last one year if you are lucky..
I was really apprehensive, but finally bit the bullet as they say, the whole outfit cost me 1336.82,I had to use my sensors from my pax tires though. They paid me only 280.00 for my old rims and tires. Oh yeah by the way my van drives and looks GREAT....Hope this will help!!!!

Anyone who has went with a non-PAX system bypassing the TPMS system altogether, can you comment on any adverse effects other than not reporting the tire pressure?

Why would you hold the tire supplier responsible for a stupid decision made by the vehicle manufacturer?  Michelin is a good company that builds great tires.  I replace the factory Goodyears on my Corvettes as soon as they're half worn because the Michelins are not only a ton quieter, but hold the road better and last 10K miles longer.

Place responsibility where it belongs:  on Honda and on idiots like me who bought another Odyssey Touring after having a horrible experience with the PAX tires on my previous vehicle.

Dear friend,

I contacted Tire Rack, but they refused to confirm their TPMS would work on my 2005 Touring.  Would you please let me know what kind/model number of the TPMS from Tire Rack?

The selection below is for 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L, because Tire Rack did not offer TPMS for 2005 or 2006.

Below was my question to Tire Rack:
“I will place an order of the following tires/wheels combination to replace the PAX system for my 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring:
(4) 235/60-17 Kumho Solus KR21 ($360)
(4) 17x7.5 Sport Edition Se-14 Bright Silver Paint. ($460)
(4) 315MHZ tire pressure sensors ($168)
Could you please verify that the 315MHZ tire pressure sensors is comparable with 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring?”

Tire Rack response:
“I am sorry but I cannot complete a quote for the products you are interested in. American Honda Motor Company will not allow us to sell, or install regular wheels and tires on vehicles that came original with the PAX tire system. I am very sorry.”

If any one could help to answer my question, this de-PAX kit is below $1K and we could order this directly from Tire Rack (Honda and Michelin will be screwed then).

Below is the info for the spare from our friend in the community.  You could also order the spare tire from the Honda dealer.

“The tire for the spare is a T135/80D -17 Goodyear Convenience Spare that I ordered from the Tire Rack for $125 including shipping.
The wheel for the spare and the hardware are Honda Items. Honda calls the wheel a disk in their parts catalog. But you will need the following from them.
42700-SHJ-A51 DISK, WHEEL (17X4T) 1 $39.58
83853-SHJ-A00 BOLT, ANCHOR 1 $2.71
74666-SHJ-A00 ADPTR, ANCHOR BOLT 1 $4.09”

I hope this will help all of our Honda Odyssey Touring owners.  I do not want anybody to take advantage from us any more.

If this helps, please share the news with me: nguyenminhhung@comcast.net

I just found out the details of the class action lawsuit that I know about... Andrew Boyle in the post above is right... it's a major joke and a real dissappointment to say the least.  Here is a link to the law firms website:
http://www.sfmslaw.com/pages/cases.php?id=343

Based on my conversation with Betsy Ferling-Hitriz from the law firm of Shepherd, Finkelman, Miller & Shah, LLP, Honda will be prorating a refund on the PAX tires if you haven't gotten at least 36K miles out of them.  What a joke!  I'm no mathematician, but if you only got 27K out of yours I'm guessing the prorated refund might be in the $20-30 range.  Oh, and if that doesn't tick you off the settlement agreement from their website states:  "Honda will continue to maintain its position that it does not support or encourage retrofitting PAX-equipped Vehicles with non-PAX tires."  Oh, and it even gets better: "Class Member my obtain a $300 rebate on the purchase of a new Honda Odyssey or Acura RL."  Wow, thanks to the attorneys, Honda, and Michelin I can now save $300 off the purchase price of a $50,0000 vehicle... great, thanks guys!

Why do I get the distinct impression that executives from the law firm, Honda, and Michelin have played at least one round of golf together in the last few months?

Not sure what the next steps are, but rejecting the class settlement and telling your state attorney general might be a good start.

Sincerely,

Another VERY Dissatisfied Honda Odyssey Pax Owner

I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey Touring with 22000 miles.  I have the same predicament as others.  My PAX tires are almost ready to be replaced.

I was told there may be tires that fit the 07 Acura MDX.  Has anyone replaced the tires on an '07 Odyssey with aftermarket all season tires?  I want to make sure I have done my research, find tires that will fit and the correc TPMS sensors so that I can depax my vehicle

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am the Manager at a Big O Tires in Colorado and we have a customer coming in within the next week to convert out of the PAX system into an aftermarket wheel/tire combo. We plan on using the original TPMS system in the new wheels, I'll let you know how this works.

I have much the same story as everyone else but will add one caveat. Watch out when we go to sell these Vans with the PAX System. Who is going to want one when it costs so much for new tires and your lucky to get 25000 miles out of a set. Count me in on any Legal Action. Honda needs to make this right our suffer the bad press.
