WRONG. Please excuse me Mr. "Master Technician" but I have had the same exact issue with my mazda Rx7 and brought it to a "professional" electrician specifically for cars in New Britain CT and he tested it right in front of me with his multi meter and told me I had a bad alternator. And you know what Mr. "Master Technician"? He was right.
You might want to lay off of with that pretentious attitude until you really know what you are talking about. Any true professional knows that most any issue's that happen a lot of times can be a multitude of things, you can't not always fix something with your preconceived go to cure that usually works 10 out of 10 times. i do try... 2rotors... but there are several tests..... one is an instant test... where the battery is checked for the percentage of charge.... with a volt meter... then the car is started.... the charging system tested.. if the charging voltage is over 14 volts.. and then an engine off battery load test is good on the battery.. that tests the charging system...
when you wake up... and you have been to repair shops that checked the charging system... and your battery is dead overnight..
then you have to do the parasitic draw test.... but with OBD2 devices that take some times 5 minutes or even longer to shut off... you have to do it the way i describe and is described in the professional articles written for professional automechanics i linked above...
i try to give everybody a fair and accurate answer... very few go unanswered... unless i totally miss them.. or the are beyond an answer..
peace....
there are also 55 different web sites here... i only cover a dozen or so...

nothing has been left on... but on 1996 and newer cars there are many circuits that have timers on them ... they stay on after you shut the car off...
pick up one of these... most parts stores sell some variation.. this one comes from harbor freight about 8 bucks..

with this... you can get out after shutting off the engine... unscrew the green knob and it will disconnect the battery..
you should still have a charged battery in the morning ...
there are several articles above ... on how to properly test for parasitic draws...
if you have a digital volt meter.. they start at 8 bucks.. or a test light.. you can with the engine off disconnect one side of the battery... hook the test light between the post you disconnected the cable from and the cable that was disconnected... if there is current being used.. the test light will light up.... you can go and start pulling ONE fuse at a time until the light goes out... its much easier with a digital volt meter hooked properly to both sides of the green knob device shown above.. run the engine.. shut it down.. wait 6 minutes.. loosen the green knob... examine the digital volt meters reading in 10 or 15 amp DC scale... if you have more than 0.030 ma you can then start pulling fuses... there should be fuses under the hood on that model... one at a time... there are more fuses inside... you will probably have to pull the dome light fuse and then continue the test with the door open and start pulling fuses under the dash...

i also would like to add that the guy that was working on my car had hooked up the back-gate wiper that the motor had went out on or something all i know is that it does not work and i wanted to know if that could be the source of the draining battery or could it be the tension belt not being tight enough or working properly that would drain my battery over night?

both are totally possible... trouble shooting is the only way to know for sure....
if the alternator belt is not properly tensioned.... the voltage at the battery when measured with the engine running will be below 14.1...
how much charge do you have in your battery....
engine off.. headlights on for one minute then turned off...
12.65 volts is a 100% charged battery 12.45 volts is a 75% charged battery 12.25 volts is a 50% charged battery...
if you have less than about 75% charge... any draw may discharge the battery overnight...
why am i asking you do use a digital volt meter... they cost as low as $8 bucks... and this is 2011...

sorry nick has not logged in since 2008... i don't know what happened to him...
wayne here...
do you have a digital multimeter??? they cost between 8 and 25 bucks..
start the engine.. turn on the headlights..
set digital volt meter to 20 volts DC scale..
1. test positive battery post to the negative battery post.. 14.1 to 14.8 volts is expected..
2, test between the Negative battery post and the engine block.. 0.04 volts is expected..
3.. test between the Negative battery post and the body.. 0.02 volts DC is expected..
4.. test between the engine block and the body... 0.02 volts.
this takes less than 2 minutes .. post your results..
if you get more that 0.02 or 0.04 volts on tests 2, 3, 4... you have a ground problem...
i would really like you to start with a fully charged battery..
test 2.3 and 4 don't need it.. but they require the engine running and the headlights on...
print this.. note the test results..
try it on a car that works properly.. you will see how the test works...

nickb2: Why do you say the alternator....that makes no sense...please dont post *** the alternator was going out the it would have a battery light on or would not run after a jump start
