I have a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus 4 cyl 2.4L... the other day i got in it to drive it, and when i started, i put the car in reverse and when i shifted to reverse, it bogged down and almost died and then idled back up to a little over 1000rpm... and when i'm stopped at a stop light it will do the same thing, it bogs down, comes back up, bogs down, comes back up... the first thought i had was maybe the TPS or the idle control valve... the check engine light has been on for about a year, but i never had any problems out of the car, plus we dont drive it that much anymore, so i just ignored it.. so i took it to a local mechanic and he called me and said the PCM needed to be replaced and it was gonna cost $650 parts and labor... i'm afraid he is just pulling a code and assuming that it is the problem i'm having... can anyone help by shedding some light on this? thanks..

Take it somewhere else and get a second opinion.
