I have a 1984 Buick LeSabre with the original 307 motor and tranny. Tranny may have overdrive, the dash shifter says RNDD21. I want to put a chevy ZZ4 in my car and want to purchase a tranny that would fit in my car with the original shift linkage, mount and electric plug on the side of the tranny which I believe actuates the lock up torque converter.
I see trannys advertised and all they tell you is the type such has 200R4 or 700R4... I was told that my tranny which is bolted to my buick 307 motor will not bolt on the chevy small block. If so why don't they advertised trannys as Buick 200R4 or chevy 200R4?
If I have a buick 200R4 and I purchase a chevy 200R4 would my shift linkage and electric plug work? what about my driveshaft and speedo drive?
If you do not know the answers to these questions could anyone redirect me where I can get help on this?
Thanks a million!

EB A BUICK, OLDS, AND CAD HAVE A DIFERENT BELL HOUSING PATTERN THAN A CHEVY. THE LINKEAGE SHOULD BE FINE W/ A 7OO, THE L/U PLUG SHOULD BE OK, AS FAR AS THE SPEEDO ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS FIGURE THE GEAR RATIO OF THE SPEEDO GEARS IN YOUR ORIGINAL TRANNY AND PUT THAT SAME RATIO IN YOUR NEW ONE. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD CHECK W/A DRIVELINE SHOP TO BE FOR SURE ON THE LENGTH. I CAN'T REMEMBER DRIVESHAFT INFO IT HAS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I HAVE DONE A SWAP LIKE THIS. BUT I DON'T REMEMBER ANY PROBLEMS.
