i have a 1996 Passat GLS 2.0 automatic that the check engine light comes one. Hooked up to OBD II showed error code 1582, which says manufacturer control, vehicle speed, idle control, and auxillary inputs. Bently maunaul says that this code is Idle adaption at limit. Reset code and let engine run 1/2 hour and no check engine light. shifted in gear for test drive and the check engine light comes back on. Cleared the code again, put back in gear and ligt comes back on. Any idea what causes this and how to fix it for good???
