The Lotus Elise and Exige will soon have "bigger brother" sport versions. The new versions will get Lotus Sport badges to show that they are not your run of the mill exige and elise (if there is such a thing) The Lotus Sport Exige Cup, a track-only, will be a 2000 lbs. supercharged version of the two-door coupe with 243 horsepower. This car is not street legal and probably for good reason. The Sport Elise for $54,995, a premium of more than ten grand over the base Elise. In addition to tuning the Elise and Exige for better track performance, Lotus Sport will also offer parts and equipment to people who want to customize their car.

I have heard the US market won't get the 240R, which is too bad. Although I'm not really sure we really a need higher performance version. There are already a few companies out there will through a turbo on them for you if you really need to be able to shame the Vipers in a straight line as well as in the corners and braking zones.

ive seen tuners turbo the stock motor as well as a few who have swapped a k20 motor from the rsx. if i recall they also supercharged the k20 in one elise. these are all too sweet to consider, with that being said im sure it wont be too hard to match/surpass performance of the 240r

One tuner is Forced Fed, they are getting 275hp 200lb-ft, doing 60 in 4 flat and running a 12.5 1/4.

automotivedp: thats it, couldnt think of the name. thanks
I have also heard there is a shop in Northern Cali that builds engines for the Toyota atlantic series that has normaly aspirated motors putting out something like 300hp. I don't know how street legal they are, I would imagine they have pretty wild cams and ITBs.

eh, NA motors dont appeal to me, im sorry.. hate me if you will, but forced induction is #1 in my book. even the best built most "impressive" na motors are just whatever to me. the only NA car i would go with and stay NA is...... ae86 toyota corolla (trueno..etc etc) with a 4ag. but there are people putting in sr20det motors in them these days along with s2k motors. weird stuff. all this motor swapping going on these days--
top secret supra with a 3sgte (mr2) motor Mr2 spyders and elises with K20 (rsx) motor ae86 corolla with s2000 motors, sr20 motors (jdm nissan) nissan 240sx with 2jzgte (supra tt) motor RX-7 with LS1s (corvette) motor
too many to think of right now..
but honda guys still love their honda motors

theres something really special about a bad *** well designed NA engine that you just dont get from slapping some generic turbo application onto your car.

So lotus is going to make something bigger? About time those things are tiny. You'd think for 40gs you could get something with a little leg room.
