1999 Dodge Grand Caravan starting problem

I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan SE that recently began giving me issues starting.  Had battery checked and alternator and was okay.  Not a charging issue.  Checked starter relay according to Haynes specs (should be 70 - 80 ohms) mine was 65.  Ending up replacing starter and was fine for 5 days or so.  This AM I turned the key and the problem was back.  Made me sick I dropped $100 on new starter and may not be the problem.  The specifics are turn the key once and I get nothing.  Turn it again I hear a click and turn it a 3rd time it has been starting.  I am thinking it is the ignition switch.  Any ideas?

Mark -
Same symptoms just started on my 1998 Chryler Town & Country.  Went to buy an ignition switch at Chrysler and they told me it was only sold with the switch housing because the "tang" in the housing was subject to wear.  It was $100+ and had to be ordered. So I bought a switch at AutoZone for $25 instead.  Naturally, it didn't fix the problem.  Sometimes I would get a click from under the hood, mostly it wouldn't start. But if I turn the switch with a screwdriver, it starts every time!  So back to Chrysler for a switch housing (I can't find it aftermarket).  I am suspicisous, though, because a click under the hood should be the starter relay, and there should be a start.  How can I get a click and no start?  I'll let you know what happens after I change the housing, probably next weekend.

So I changed the housing.  It didn't fix the problem. But now I get a click from the starter relay every time.  So I bought and installed a new (rebuilt) starter.  NOW IT STARTS!!  So was it the starter?  Or was it the switch/housing AND the starter?  Remember, before I replaced the starter, sometimes I wouldn't get any click from the starter relay.  And when I used a screwdriver, it started every time!  I will never know if the problem was the switch, the housing, and/or the starter, (because I've wasted enough time and am not going to take any of the above apart).  But now that all have been replaced, the van starts.  And hopefully these parts will last as long as I own the van.
