I have A 1968 Ford LTD with a 390 eng. It is an original garaged car,  showroom condition and less than 40,000 original miles. It has been in our family since new. The car runs great, except after it warms up. Then it dies when you accelerate from a stop. Once it starts to do this it dies every time. The car has never had anything other than routine maint. done to it.I have not been able to find the problem. Any ideas?

sounds like you might have an accelerator pump out of the carb...might just wanna do a good rebuild if it has been sitting for a while the carb might be full of varnish.

i have the same exact problem,
'68 ford galaxie 500 ,302
50,000 miles, garage kept,
everythings pretty much exactly like what you said, and i have the same exact problem,
runs great until it warms up, then when you give it gas, it boggs down and quits,
i took it to a mechanic today, he made some adjustments, nothing major,
but it still does this now.
it seems like the choke is staying on ,and its getting too much gas and flooding,

is a rebuild inevitable? or is there just some minor carb adjustments that need to be made?

i got the same problem,
68 ford ltd 390
70,000 miles
located in california so in a very good shape
but after it warms up it gets better. the gas pedal is very sensitive though. it took me a while until i figured it out. but a few weeks ago it broke down: the brakes locked up. i couldnt move an inch. at the brake shop they put in a new master cylinder and some other stuff. today i barely made it home. i can feel the brakes locking up again. is there anyone with the same problem?
