When the light turned grenn, I left my foot off the gas pedal. I had the message "Traction fail, Stability fail, FailSafe Engine Mode" The car moved slowly and was unbale to pick up gas. I turned the engine off and crancked it back agian. Then I had the message "ASC".
Does somebody know what these messages are about. Can somebody tell me how to fix it?

Hi, I have had a similar problem with my 99 XKR - when I go to open it up, all power disappears and the message centre scrolls through 3 messages;
ASC not available
Trac Control not available
Engine failsafe mode.
It always happens at an inconvenient moment, often with a damp road. Sometimes it corrects itself after a switch off and restart.... anyone got any ideas?

I have a 2001 xk8. While 200 miles from home and idling at a tgraffic light the failsafe mode came on - you know no trac, asc etc etc. In the past when this happened ( just twice in the year that i have owned the car ,I simply turned off the ignition, waited a couple of minutes, turned on again and presto, car was ok again. BUT NOT THIS TIME !!!!!!
Within seconds failsafe mode came back. Ok whats to do. I was just driving into a strange Jaguar dealership in Ft. meyers, Florida whan the brainwave hit me. Borrowed an ajustable wrench, went to the battery AND REMOVED THE GROUND FROM THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL.Then touched the ground back to the battery negative a few times. And presto,f***ed computer reset. Drove out of Jag dealership. Drove 200 miles home at 90 mph. NO MORE PROBLEMS. Car ran flawlessly. Probably saved $1000 plus for a new (?) on-board computer plus 2 nights in a hotel. Aren't I brilliant ??!!!!!!! You try this trick next time and you'll be rolling in 2 minutes.
