My dad is looking into a buying a new car. He was leaning towards a small SUV like a Honda CRV or a Toyota RAV4, or a wagon type vehicle like the Subaru Impreza wagon or the Subaru Forrestor. Of these 4 which would be the best deal. Not in terms of personal favorite but in terms, of performance, reliability, pricing, maintenance, etc...

IF we are talking performance, the SUVs won't touch the wagons, especially if you are comparing a CRV/Rav4 compared to a WRX wagon. The WRX will handle better, stop better, accelerate better and they are all really close on mileage. If he doesn't plan on doing any off-roading I don't see the point in buying an SUV, and really with the two SUVs you listed, I think the WRX or Forester could probably go anyplace you would go with either of them.
