A little background, first. I have a 1998 XLT 2WD Explorer, I need to replace quite a bit of the suspension system (shocks, maybe leaf springs?) and was looking for some advice on what brands are better than others, anyone else's experience, etc. I have a good friend who is a mechanic who is willing to help me out by replacing/fixing anything my car needs provided I purchase all the parts needed and buy him some drinks the next time we go out. So that being said...
I've noticed lately that my car is 'squeaking' whenever I go over speed bumps, potholes, etc. I've been told that this is due to the rubber spacers in-between my rear leaf springs being worn down over time and the leaf springs are causing the noise when the rub against each other. So my questions are...
1). does this diagnosis seem right?
2). if it is, would I be fine with just replacing the rubber spacers or is their a chance the leaf springs have been damaged and that I should replace them as well?
3). what type of shocks would you recommend I get? (Brand type or even specific model if possible) I am willing to pay a little extra if the quality is worth it.
4). where do you usually get your car parts at? Local auto store or online? And any recommendations on good stores.
Your help is much appreciated and all input is welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I don't know if your diagnosis is right but I think it would be best if you consult a mechanical person who really knows your problem. Once you consulted some mechanic, you ask him what type of shocks would be best for your car's situation. Lastly, I would advice you to buy your car parts online because those car parts websites offer different brands to choose from. Before you buy, it would be best if you search some information about the site you plan to buy because some sites have bad reputation especially in their promised delivery dates. I buy my car parts online and so far, I am not having problems yet. Hope this might help you.

If you want to change the suspension of your car than you should go to a service center. I would suggest you to buy a branded suspension because it will give you a smooth ride. You will find many options to choose from.
