I have a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LTD. The exhaust manifolds on my SUV seem to keep cracking. I had one fixed and about 2 months later the other one cracked as well. I have replaced one side for the third time. Can anyone tell me what may be causing them to crack. I need to get it repaired again but I want to fix the problem also. I had aftermarket catalytic convertors put on at one point because the OEM convertors were $800.00 a piece. Could these be causing them to overheat and maybe crack ?? Im totally at a loss on why this keeps happening. I also am experiencing some pretty good engine hesitation until warm up.Thanks !

check to make sure when the aftermarket converters were put did they eliminate any flex joints...also is the engine running lean causing excessive heat...is there a check engine light on....what kind of manifolds are you putting on...

it sounds like the exhaust system is on a bind and stressing the manifolds. it could be the pipes bent incorrectly or the hangers are not supporting the the weight of the exhaust system
