My Sub sat for about a year. Mechanic tried to sell $3500.00 worth of repairs. Turned out to be a sensor on the fuel pump ($450.00), thank God for the internet! Now, whenever I go over a bump, the gage swings wildly until the ride smooth out. Any suggestions?

not too sure on how diesels work but on gas units their is a sending unit with the pump in the tank that measures fuel level. a good shop should have the equipment to check this for u. most likely i say you have a float problem, but as i stated earlier im not familiar with diesels. sorry

Your fuel pump float thing could be sticking... your problem is similar to a problem my friend had, we fixed it by pulling out the fuel pump (probably in the trunk), and cleaning the float.

change the gas retailer. I have chrysler Intrepid. It had same problem. I used to fill gas at Shell all the time and I got bouncing fuel gage. Then I changed the gas retailer (petro canada). suddenly the gage stopped bouncing. I have never been to Shell gas pump again.Hope this will help
