My cd doesn't play.  The cd ejects and I get an error 1 message.  Does anyone have any idea about this?  How long is the warranty covered on the cd player?  Also, I have been to the dealership at least 10 times for the engine light.  The dealership put in a new censor, but the light still comes on.  Very frustrated.

Your CD player is covered for the length of the bumper to bumper warranty if I remember correctly. Thsi woulod be a good oppertunity to upgrade to an aftermarket unit, if yours is no longer covered.

What is the code associated with the check engine light? It would also help to know what model and engine you have when you post what error codes you are getting.

If you can, try a different dealer. For the most part, VW dealers are about the worst out there, but every once in a while you might a good one and get lucky.

(2003 Jetta Station Wagon, 2.0)--I have 260 miles left of the 50,000 mile warranty--the cd player is covered.

The dashboard only displays the check engine light, no error codes.  The dealership explained to me that since the problem with the engine light is preexisting, repairs would be taken care of by the dealership.  The engine rings were replaced at around 38,000 miles.  Ever since the engine rings have been replaced, the engine light has been a constant battle.

I've taken the car to the same dealership.  I've been to the dealership atleast 30 times for various problems within 4 years.  My car is currently in litigation through the Lemon Law.

Update:  I started my car to check the mileage, kept the door open, put a cd in the player, it worked!

I'm wondering if I need to purchase an extended warranty?  I don't want to get stuck with a large repair bill at the end of the ***

I don't believe what I'm going through!  I probably would have done better with a used car.
