I had heard that VW and Chrysler were working on a van project together. I don't know if that is scheduled for 08, or if it will come to the US as a VW at all.
VW currently produces 3 or more different vans in Europe, but we don't see them here.

The Microbus concept is most definitely not happening. And it's a done deal that Chrysler is building the next-gen EuroVan (or whatever they're going to call it) at least for the North American market. Don't know if it's going to get a VW-exclusive engine, or share one of the ChryCo mills.

They are also doing the California.

I'm from Brum and have seen it at this dealer( http://www.vw4vans.co.uk/california.aspx), looks ok for holidays etc, bit too pricey for me though (need a new job!) .

I found the following info. at http://www.allpar.com/model/m/2008-minivans.html:

"A new Volkswagen minivan based on the Chrysler and Dodge minivan platform, which will be sold only in North America, will be produced beginning in 2008. Chrysler Group President and CEO Tom LaSorda said, "With our manufacturing and platform engineering flexibility, we can deliver a high-quality product specifically tailored to Volkswagen's customers' tastes with little or no substitution effect on the current Chrysler and Dodge minivan lineup."

It rings of Nissan Quest / Mercury Villager.

The VW minivan will be based on the Dodge Caravan but will carry VW interior and exterior styling according to this article

I am a technician for a vw dealer. the 2009 van will come out in september of 2008. the body with be the center of the dodge caravan and the front and rear will look very close to the front and rear of the touareg. the complete powertrain and all the electrical will be chrysler and the interior will be all vw. the technicians will even be using a chrysler scan tool and now have to learn chrysler wiring diagrams.

THAT IS THE TRUTH ABOUT THE NEW VAN AND THERE HAS BEEN SOME RUMORS THAT THEY ARE GONNA CALL IT THE "CARVELLE"
