The fuel pump in my wife's 85 MR2 just went out.. I'm pretty sure it's an electronic pump.. The shop wants to charge $270 for the pump and $250 more for the labor.. I told him to go to hell. I can get the pump set for $150 and hopefully do it myself. anyone know how difficult it would be to change? I've changed out many pumps on various cars.. usually they're just in the fuel tank and it's a easy switchout. But with this car, I'm not sure.. google is no help either.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hope it isn't a AutoZone pump!

when it comes to fuel pumps you get what you pay for....the shop is most likly putting is a quality pump they have had good luck with...anybody can buy a part less than a shop as most shops use quality parts not bottom of the barrel cheap *** keep this in mind when you are putting several of them in

Ok well besides the $550 he wanted for the fuel pump and labor.. he wanted another $500 on top of that for an oil filter and timing belt change. That's insane. He was trying to take my wife for a ride.
And I ended up getting a Bosch Fuel Pump set with filter and strainer and all gaskets for under $250 lifetime warranty, and it took me a day to put it on. Wasn't that difficult once I got the tank off.. bit of a puzzle but otherwise pretty easy.
This weekend I will change the oil and filter and put a new timing belt on for under $50.
