Was the Volkswagen 181 (Volkswagen Thing as it was known in some places) ever sold in the United States?

yes it was in 73 and 74
I saw one for sale at acar show recently that the guy want 14 grand for. I would love to have one, but I think they are probably worth closer to 14 hundred. The sad thing is, someone will pay that because they have to have it. Or more likely their daughter will have to have it.

yeah my parents know a guy who had one when he was young and wants to relive his glory days, so he bought a rusty beat up one and he got it estimated at about 10,000 to refurbish the whole thing, doesnt sound worth it to me
