96 jeep cherokee sport 170,000 miles.Left the headlights on and drained the battery. Jumped off fine. Now it wont idle when you let off of the gas. Mechanic says that it has to " re-learn idle". I picked it up from the shop and after a mile or so I stopped at a redlight and it went dead. Re-started Jeep and I am now driving with "2 feet". Is the mechanic correct in his diagnosis? How long should it take to re-learn idle ?
Have you tried a new battery for kicks and giggles?
The car won't run with a bad alternator and dead battery. Low voltage produces all sorts of weird stuff. It would help if you posted your solution to the problem.
