2001 ford Lightning 4R100 OEM transmission (78k miles)

I have a very unusual problem that no one seems to be able to figure out. about once a month my truck will die when coming to a stop, just like if you had a manual tranny you were forgetting to push in the clutch. After it dies I put it in park pull the keys out and then start it back up and everything is fine again. If I catch it before it dies I can put it in nuetral or park but taking off from their is not easy. I assume the t\c is still locked, it's like taking off in 4th gear? I have a predator and it says it's in first and their has never been any codes thrown.

The T\C has been replaced and the solenoid and the valve body, none helped. A expert told me to replace the TCC control valve which I had done and it was fixed...for a year. Then it started back up again. This week it acted up very bad and I was stuck at a light for about 10min. It would die immediately when putting it in gear. Now it's fine again, I can't get it to mess up, shift are perfect. This has been going on now for 2 years. I am beginning to think this isn't mechanical but something is telling the truck to stay locked up?

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Seeing that replacing the TCC control valve fixed it for a year I would say that that is your problem again. Could just be one little piece of something causing it to bind up.

but wouldn't the trans do it all the time if something was binding it up. Or are we assuming there is dirt or something in the fluid and it's getting the valve stuck occasionally, but eventually frees itself?

Usually except for yesterday all it takes is a key off and on then it would be fine. Yesterday was about 10min of that.

thanks for the help
