Ford nixed the idea for a new V-8 engine for its upcoming MKS, the replacement to the Town Car. Reason? Money or lack of.

Is it me, or is this a real bad idea?

Uh, definitely a "Dumb Move." It's almost mandatory to have a V-8 in a premium-brand flagship. The only premium brand I can think of that doesn't is Acura, but they never have. Lincoln has traditionally always had V-8s, and used to exclusively be V-8s until the LS. You know what, if they can't tool up to produce the engine domestically, just import them from Sweden for a while! Lincoln has lost a lot of ground to Cadillac over the past few years, and it looks like they might be the permanent underdog if they keep doing dumb stuff like this.

Yeah..I hate to say it but Lincoln may be headed to be the next Oldsmobile. The new Lincoln MKS isn't anything but a rebadged Ford version of the Acura TL. Im so disappointed with what Ford is doing to Lincoln. Its almost like they're trying not to compete anymore. The entire Lincoln line-up is nothing more than a rebadged Ford anyway. The name Lincoln doesn't mean what it did in the earlier years of the car industry. All American car companies are dropping the ball because their CEO's are too tied into their retirement funds.(Note to CEO's) Maintain a great line-up then you can worry about retiring wealthier than you already are! Import automobiles are paving the way because they offer exactly what buyers want and are more reliable. Thats why more and more people are buying foreign cars. Ford is definately starving their luxury brand. Its a pity, I think Fisher Price designers could do a better job with the Lincoln company.
