I have a '98 Voyager (3.0L 4 Speed) that had a horrendous Whining/Squealing noise and was shuddering pretty bad going into 4th. My first step was to replace the input and output sensors, with no improvement. I then replaced the fluid with ATF +4 with a new filter and it is doing great, except for some slipping in 4th gear.
When I drive in 3rd (Shift indicator 3) everything is great, it runs very strong (for a voyager), but when I put it in D, it starts to slip. My brother-in-law is telling me it's a bad pump and the Transaxle needs to be replaced.
The ATF change made it infinitely better, can a bad pump only effect 4th? Any help would be appreciated.

Nope, to and from work in the Detroit area. I gained some weight when I quit smokin', but I doubt that did it.
