As much as I like M cars, I really think I would take a 335 instead. I can't wait to see what the tuners are going to be able to do with the twin turbos.

how much hp/tq does the 335 have stock?  IM sure a simple chip, upgraded cooling system(intercooler/radiator), and full turbo back exhuast can give great numbers....im pretty curious

I guess they are rated at like 290hp and 300ft-lbs stock from BMW. One of the mags stuck one on a chassis dyno already because they thought it fealt like a lot more power. I guess the thing dynoed at 280 some hp and 300 ft-lbs at the wheels. If you consider drivetrain loss to be somewhere between 12 and 18 percent you are looking at around 330hp.

I think BMW is going to have to do soemthing amazing with the M3 to get people to spend the extra money. Yes, the 335 will still need suspension and brakes, but I probably wouldn't leave that stuff stock on an M3 either.

Honestly, $54k for that level of performance isn't that outrageous. Granted, it's WAY out of my budget, but that's about what you'd pay for a fully-loaded Vette or a well-equipped Porsche Cayman. And you'd be lucky if you could get a loaded CLK 350 out the door for that much! There's no question it'll be a strong seller, but considering the untapped performance potential of the 335i, I think a lot of fence-sitters will go for that one and spend a few bucks on upgrades. Plus, you can get the 335 in a 4-door. If it's like the E46, the M3 is again going to be coupe-only.
