I have a 91 S10 4.3 with 700r4 Transmission..Each gear works fine its just it takes so many rpms to shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear after that each gear is fine and it downshifts fine..Sometimes it dont wanna even shift from 1st to 2nd..I have replaced the tv linkage/cable..Adjusted it so many times and hasnt fixed the problem..I was told it could be the governor or the governor gear..What do u guys think before i go and buy another tranny or rebuild this one?? Thanks guys
The throttle valve is sticking. If there is no debris in the pan or filter which would indicate a failing trans you could install a "no stick throttle valve" made by Transgo. A small return spring behind the stock throttle valve will help also to keep it from sticking in the floored position.
