146 hp and 236 ft.-lbs of torque? That's it? The now-defunct Ford Excursion base model would handily beat this in a race:

so I am thinking that it is intended for military use since it has the anti-mine flooring in it. I am not sure many soccer-moms are running over anti-personel devices on the way to Starbucks. Of coarse the first time one of those soccer moms sees the suv rolling through the streets of Iraq on CNN, they will need one to drive around Suburbia.

the only hummer that is truely a hummer is the H1...all the rest can be recycled and used for material for soccer goals.

The Hummer H3 is like a BMW X3, both aim for people who can not afford (or too scared to drive) the Hummer H2 and the BMW X5.

thats not a hummer nor is it related to an h3.. they just say "it may look like a hummer, but this panhard a4 fast..bla bla"
i think all SUVs should be for offroad use only. they need to stay off our streets and out of the hands of soccer moms!
and the H1 isnt the only real hummer i can think of.

AGREED, when you build a track car, you drive it on the track. So if you have an offroad vehicle, drive it offroad.
Every highway should get an extra lane that is just dirt, don't grate it or anything, just take out the trees and relocate any woodland animals and thats were all these dumb*** SUV drivers can use there offroad vehicles. Get them off the streets!

The hummer H3 lookes to much like a jeep. What is wrong the fenders, they are terrible looking. The H2 is not bad because they went for more luxury then muscle. Those look good when fixed up.

Whats the MPG on a H2 hummer anyway? Then everyone has to put the 30" rims on them. How lame

While it may seem like the H3 is not a HUMMER because of its smaller size and rather weak power numbers, the car is actually extremely capable off-road. It has a lot of ground clearance (crucial for any off-roading at all), locking rear-differential, and nice push-button 4WD. So it's not an H1, but it is still more capable off-road than most stock SUVs right now.

Anyone who has to unmitigated ignorance to criticize the H3 as a real off road vehicle not only has never driven one off road, but has no concept how impressive this unaltered production vehicle is in real rugged situations. I live in Kodiak Alaska. My H3 goes where the most custom and modified 4X4's can go. And none of them have half the style of this compact Hummer. I'd say it is better described as a real serious off road vehicle posing as a soccer mom rig. The H3 was designed to ride the trail without hesitation. The fenders throw the mud all over the sides because it was designed to crawl over the rocks and not stay clean. I needed to put soccer mom mud flaps on just to attempt some form of civility. Any intelligent mind can appreciate the harmony of horsepower, gear ratio, and balance the H3's five cylinder provides. If you want a big custom 350 4x4 truck this rig ain't for you. If you need a dependable, comfortable, SUV that can handle any Alaska winter, roads, and trails this is your rig. I'll pull off steeply graded ice covered trail ruts that traverse the side of a mountain road to find a jagged rock covered beach blocked by a log jam of hundreds of old sitka spruce washed up from past storms. The nimble H3 approaches and climbs the initial vertical sixteen inch step with out so much as a hint of strain. then the rig bobbles over the logs piled ten feet high. At times balancing on three and two wheels this unmodified factory production SUV finds itself on a pristine beach of black sand and crystal clear ocean. No soccer mom rig would dare this trip. Going back up was surpassingly stunning as the huge sunroof framed the mountain backdrop nearly equal to a convertible, but with all the amenities of a rigid roof. The surefooted 4x4 found a sticky grip in the ice and snow as it crawled up to the potholed Alaska road waiting above. Keep your heavier H1 and H2. This H3 gets as good gas mileage as a Toyota FJ Cruiser with far more class. All the rest of the SUV's out there can only pretend to be this amazing right off the showroom floor. I had a suburban 4x4 once when I was living in Jacksonville, Florida. There was a flooded street with about 18 inches of water in the intersection. That giant SUV pushed water up and into an air intake and stalled. This new H3 has a built in snorkel ready for even such an urban adventure as bad as poor drainage in a storm. All the smug Hummer H3 skeptics should take off their hats out of respect every time they see a soccer mom pass by in something they only wish they had.

kodiakmac is right, every word. Obviously there is a lot of talk going on without experience to go with it. I have 4 wheeled all my life. My first truck was an International ScoutII and I have owned and wheeled many other modified 4x4s over the last 20 years. I have lived in Illinois and have mud experience as well as my time out west in the desert with rocks and sand. I have run the Rubicon twice and been to Moab 8 times. I know trails and I know trucks. I use my H3 to tow my modified Toyota to Moab Utah last year. After breaking a mount on the Toyota I was forced to carry out the rest of the trail runs with the H3. After running three 3+ trails with no problem, I decided to try some 4 rate trails, and to my amazement the H3 is an amazing machine. Anyone who has been to Moab knows what I’m talking about. The H3 is a little large be a serious rock crawler, but its definitely a highly capable 4x4. I met other H3 owners out there running the 4 trails too. Anyone who says different probably doesn’t know anything about 4x4 or nothing about the H3. Its one of the best stock vehicles I have ever driven of road. I didn’t break anything on the Moab trip, but honestly I will refrain from abusing the H3 since it’s my primary work vehicle.
Don’t believe me! Do a video search on Moab and H3, you will be awed
