any suggestion to stop the pinging from using reg. unleaded? I replaced the spark plugs and air filter. Is there someting else I can do without paying 3.50 for super unleaded?

couple of things, you can adjust your timing, look for vacuum leaks, and a quick internet search turned up a MAF problem with Rangers. It seems like a alot of people have Rangers that ping and most have been told by dealers they just do that on lower octane fuel.
If you have too much trouble tracking it down, you may have to ask yourself how much trouble 20 cents a gallon is really worth.
