Recently I just started doing some work for Kia and a major topic of conversation is the JD Power award that the Rio just won. I’d really like to get some opinions on how you guys feel about them now that they are becoming a serious force in the automotive industry. The Rio seems like a compact car that would be cool to own, at least if what the awards say is true. Let me know what you think.

To be honest I have never been impressed with many of the Korean cars. If you buy a car decently equiped, I can't believe anyone still makes you pay for ABS but Kia does, it opens up a lot of options for better cars. The Rio is just so small and cheap, it even looks incredibly cheap. When I look at cars like the Honda Fit, it doesn'y look as cheap as the RIO. The Rio just strikes ma as a car you buy because you couldn't afford anything else and you don't care what you drive. You either aren't or have completely given up on being a car enthusiast. The Yaris, Fit and several other cars in that segment all look fun. As for the JDP Award, I have never put much value in them. I see them in about the same light as Consumer Reports. Yes they are there, they probably do some valid research, but who cares.
Sorry to bash Kia, but I'm just not impressed with their products.
