American car manufacturers wonder why their sales slip to foreign manufacturers and I have to say I don't think that it is quality of the vehicle.  It is customer service!  When you know you have this problem Jeep you need to take care of people who come in with it.
Admit that these parts are under-engineered and replace for free.  Apologize for the loss of their valuable time and hope they'll buy Chrysler products again.  Terrible.

I have replaced *EVERY* regulator in my 2004 Grand Cherokee.  One I've replaced twice.  Any Chrysler mechanic has seen this problem many times.  Anyway- this will be the last Jeep, Chrysler, possibly American car I own.  I want to buy American- and I love my car- but this is a situation that tests my patience and sanity.

Bye Jeep.  (Don't Buy Jeep)

you better believe there are others !!!  I have just replaced my second regulator in 10 days...upon calling Chrysler Damlier Customer Care (what a joke!) and giving all the facts in my dilema, I was told "wait until the third regulator breaks and then we may be able to do something !"  I am writing to Chrysler and sending this Forum to them so that they can see there is a problem with GC window regulators...my GC is a 2002 and in mint condition and I love it...but the kind of help I received from Customer Care today will make me think twice about buying another product from them.
I have kept up maint on this jeep for the last 5 years at Jeep's reccomendation and have spent tons of money just on prevenative maint....but when a part breaks and has not been under "wear and tear" as is the case with my power windows, I believe some consideration should be given reagarding the repair....and it seems I'm not the only one who thinks this way !!

I also have the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have had the exact same problem. Windows just keep falling down out of the blue. I am about to replace my second window regulator in the past 4-6 months.

I bought a used 2000 grand cherokee and my passenger window just "popped" and fell to the bottom. I'm not familiar with the window regulator..?..Can someone help me so I don't sink $400 into this window if I don't have to. Much appreciated..I have the door panel off now and I can push the window up but it just falss back down..If I press the button it sounds like the motor is working but the window doesn't move..also it feels like a cable is really loose.. it sounds like the same problem the rest of you are having.. can you help me fix it as cheaply and quickly as possible so I can finish paying for getting the AC fixed for the second summer in a row..
Thanks again

We are on our 2nd window regulator in 2002 Grand Cherokee. I am dumbfounded that Chrysler won't fix this problem or at the very least fix the new regulators they are installing with better engineered parts such as the aluminum replacement that someone on here is manufacturing at a fraction of the cost of a new regulator. I was in the process of trading this jeep in the week that the 2nd regulator gave out, I was offered $9000 before the window went out, now they hesitate to give me $8000, this for a vehicle that new was over 30,000 and only has 65000 miles. Shame on Chrysler for building such poor quality vehicles! Based on this experience I will NEVER buy another Jeep or Chrysler vehicle, they have joined the ranks of Ford and Yugo in my book. This coming from someone who just 10 years ago claimed that they would never buy anything but Chrysler, oh how times of changed.

Anyone want to buy an 02 Jeep with a broken window regulator...cheap! Email me!!!

I am the owner of a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I am currently working on replacing window number 2 regulator/motor.  The first time it happened it was the passenger front and now it is the drive front window.  So I guess 2 down 2 to go... I too called the service department at my local Jeep Chrysler dealership, and was quoted about $300 just for the part, that did not include the labor to install it.  This is ridiculous...  Fortunately my fiance was able to find the complete unit on e-bay brand new for $60 (this is even including shipping!)He installed it himself as well.  It was the cheapest fix the first time so I went back and ordered another one for the second..

I bought a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 50k on it two weeks ago. The rear passenger and front driver regulators have both gone out! WTF?!

I put about 300k on two different Cherokees - '87 and '96 models - and never had a single window problem. Now I've had two problems in about 300 miles of driving. I'm just a little bit irritated.

I have had to replace both the passenger and drivers side regulators on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  I called Jeep and their response was that my warranty had expired and they could do nothing.  I have since filed a complaint with the MD consumer protection agency.  The attorney general agreed that the car has a defect siting information on the NHTSA website.  They have sent a letter to Daimler Chrysler on my behalf to cover the cost of the repairs.  I suggest anyone with this problem file a complaint with your state consumer protection agency as well as the NHTSA.

I totally agree with you! I had my window regulator go out on the drivers side about 2 months ago. Yesterday the passenger side window popped and it no longer works. This sure seems like a major issue with this vehicle. The websites are numerous on this part and descriptions of how they are breaking before they should. The parts list on EBay is also lenghty. This should tell you something.

Any word from your letter or attorney?

PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS

On top of the many other problems, I now have the same window problem - 1st the passenger window just DROPS and I'm quoted $450 to fix....now the same thing on the driver side - is there a class action against this, it appears to be a huge problem??????

Hi All, Just a quick note to let you know that the window regulators for the rear door of the 2001-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee will become available later this month, October 2007. The front regulators are such an issue, the aftermarket company we deal with decided to tool out the rear door regulators for the Grand Cherokee.

This same problem with the window regulator began in my new 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It happened twice. Now it is happening in my 2001 G. Cherokee too. I had the 100,000 mi bumper to Bumper warranty but that is now gone.
I think I am going to order the regulator on EBAY and then get the instructions on how to disassemble the door and do it ourselves. My hubby probably can help me. But I did find a place in Houston, Clear Glass who will install it for $68. That may be a better idea.
Class Action count us in! I have had three Jeeps! And still have two.

Count my '99 Cherokee Sport in with the lemon parade. $400 bucks so far for the drivers side, & the other 3 work sporadically at best. This will be my first and only Jeep.

If you have a Jeep Cherokee or Grand Cherokee you know how bad the electric window regulators are. I have an 02 Grand Cherokee, and I've replace both fronts twice since I bought it new. The dealer will rip you off both on the part and labor. I will install for $50.00 each. I'm located in Winchester Ca near Temecula. You can buy the regulators on Ebay and I'll install them or we can work something out and use my Ebay account to purchase them. Please email fivevees@verizon.net with any questions. Thanks, Mark
