I own a 1999 pontiac grand am with 138,000 miles on it. Transmission is starting to shift alittle slugish. Needing info on changing trans fluid and filter. I have done trans services before but on nothing like this without a dipstick. I see a red trans cap on the top drivers side of the car? if I pull pan and change filter is that the correct place to add and how do I know how much. By the way it is the 2.4 litre motor... THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Just forward of the passenger axle is a pipe plug. Remove the plug with a 7/16. When you are ready to refill the trans, remove the red fill cap and fill it not running up till it flows from the pipe plug hole. Now start the car and continue filling in park until fluid flows from the pipe plug hole again. Install the pipe plug and your done. Do this with the car level as not to over fill the transmission.
