I have noticed that I can no longer go to Vent mode.  I still can go to Foot, Defrost, and Foot Defrost.  When I put it to A/C the air comes out of the foot ducts and defrost ducts.  

Looks like you have a blind door problem.
You may have the vacuum motor unhooked from blind door.
Check under dash ( Driver's side up by the center of dash) and see if one of the vacuum motors has come off the door lever.
The vacuum hose has a BLue color along it going to that motor

Thank you for your response; what do I need to take apart to reach the vacuum motor? And does this HVAC have separate vacuum motors for each mode?  

You won't need to take anything apart.
You should be able to see the vacuum motors, If you take a light under the dash and look towards the center of the dash ,up by the gas pedal.
Yes you have at least three vacuum motors and if you have a console you'll have two more. look for a black/blue vacuum hose going to the one that I think is disconnected. Up above the gas pedal towards the left side of the heater plenum.  

I have a '01 sable and all the sudden the A/C puts out hot air.  checked all fuses and relays ( swapped relays around ) and still the same.  clutch engages when turned on.  


any ideas what to check next?
