ok here is the deal i have a 82 chevy just put a motor in it and had it running the best its ever ran.  well the plastic boot that connects the kick down cable to the tanny broke and all my fluid leeked out.  I limped home and had to run high rpms to get truck up my drive way( remember this)  Ok 1 month later i fix boot and truck runs fine all day and then 5 hours later i come to stop sign and when i give it gas i just bearly move. i play with gears and all foward gears same thing except seems like i can hear a downshift when i go from drive to 1st yet no better movement. i limp along and finally pull over and shift to reverse and truck backs up just fine.????????   i was thinking i burned fluid and now my screen is dirty, but why do i have reverse. any suggestions.  I have another tranny but i dont think this one is bad just hurt. thanks  

The forward clutch (and rings) have been burnt. Take it to a trannytech or get a overhaul kit and do it yourself.
