Hi, I have Honda Accord 1993 (Manual Transmition). The car is running fine. But from last 3 months it is giving starting problem. Sometimes it starts in a normal way. But sometimes it doesn't start. Then I wait for 10 mins and try starting. And it works. The sequence is like the following. I turn the ignition key on, The engine starts for a moment and then it dies. Ones this happens, it doesn't start for the next few mins. It doesn't show the engine check light. It runs fine after starting. I showed it to two mechanics, they checked everything and they said that there is no problem at all. Also they could not replicate the problem. Can anyone help me on this ? Also how should I check the error code ?
Regards, Samir

Have you had your battery checked? You can take it to Kragen AutoParts and get it checked for free. If it is your battery, you should replace and the problem will be resolved. If not, then your best bet is to take it to the dealership and ask them to look at it.

I have a 94 honda accord (manual). It's been giving me a hard time starting. At first I thought it was the battery and then I thought it was the starter. It acts like the battery is dying, i leave it alone for a while then It starts up with no problem. Is it the starter, the battery, the O2 censor or what????????

there is a thread on this topic. It sounds like you are having the same problem and the cause could be a couple of things. heres the link. Just copy and paste it in your browser

I have a '92 Honda Accord it does the same. Is it the ignition switch or the lock cylinder?

I have a'93 Honda Accord and have the same issues. I find it usually occurs on very warm days when I have less than half a tank of gas and only drive a short distance and then attempt to restart. When I bought the car new it stalled a couple times and Honda stated there was recall for this issue and they corrected it. My car started it again this past summer - may be the same issue and I will check with the dealer. It has now started to stall in traffic if I slow down.

Check the main relay module. It is probably located under the dashboard, driver side forward corner. You might need to relocate other modules out of the way. It is hard to see it as it is located in the corner. Remove the module, sniff the module with your nose, does it smell burnt, if it is, its probably the problem. When the module heats up, the relay points are not able to close to complete the circuit until the module cools down. Hope this helps.

i totally agree...
but.. most of the time... you can use a 10MM deep socket on the end of 15 inches to 18 inches of extension...
a mirror on the floor.. as the relay is mounted to the underside of the top of the dash board... straight up... and impossible to see anything except the nut.. and the bracket.. the bracket is also over an alignment stud.. and behind another bracket.. but you can pull it right off after taking the nut off...
drop it down... flip it around and you can see the tiny latch to depress and then pull the harness out..
if you know how to solder... unhook the latches.. slide the guts out.. resolder the circuit board... clean it... with brake cleaner... let it dry... put it back...
the Main relay powers up the EFI and then the fuel pump...
with a lens... you can see the tiny cracks in the solder joints.. that will usually fix it about half the time... honda redesigned the relay to prevent all except the most determined.. from getting to the relay contacts.. you have to unsolder the board from the inner cage. to get it far enough apart... thats the reason i say .. spray clean the contacts with brake cleaner. and hope..
getting the relay back up into proper place is easier than it looks.. try it...
