Right on time, FoMoCo's made the announcements Automotive News reported it would. Late yesterday, the company confirmed it's building the Ford Shelby GT -- a consumer version of the Rent-a-Racer Shelby Mustang GT-H offered at Hertz outlets (in white or black with silver stripes) -- and that the Lincoln MKS concept will go into production in 2008 as the company's next full-size flagship sedan.

What do you think? Ford will either drop the venerable Town Car or let it phase out gracefully into the grave after the MKS is released.

its funny, ever since the new mustang came out, ive seen it as a rental car only.. ironic how the new version will be available through hertz... "a consumer version of the Rent-a-Racer Shelby Mustang GT-H offered at Hertz outlets (in white or black with silver stripes)"

It is cool to see Shelby bringing back the look of the GT-350H but I somehow doubt Hertz will be too happy if they end up on race tracks like the originals were intended. They would definitely be fun to rent for a day or two.
