I found the pwr str fluid leak.

Its coming from where the lower intermediate steering column connects to the top of the Power Rack and Pinion Unit.

Every time I wipe off the pwr str fluid it starts seeping back out  from between the steering shaft and the rack and pinion seal and slowly flows down and gathers up on top of the of the seal and around the shaft base.

I bought the seal kit so I'm ready to go to work.

Can this job be done without having to take out the Rack and Pinion
unit itself.

Can I just remove the shaft above it , remove the old seal and put the new one in and hook the steering shaft back up.

Thanks for your help with this !!

Can you tell me where you found your rack and pinion seal kit?  I have a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that has the same problem.

Thanks

I had the samething hapen to my Aerostar. and yes you can remove the shaft and replace the seal. or you could just empty the fluid and replace it with steering fluid stopleak, that works but it takes a few days to seal hope it helps.
