What's Ford really worth? Its shareholders and the family that controls the ailing automaker are about to find out. And it won't be pretty.

Its market capitalization stood at just over $13 billion at close of trading on Wednesday. In comparison, Toyota (TM), which in July just passed Ford (F) as the nation's second-biggest car seller behind General Motors (GM), has a market capitalization of more than $170 billion. Looking to raise cash and stem its loss of market share, the company is thinking that the sum of its parts may be worth more than its whole.

What do you think about the combination? Or are there better ones like Aston Martin (ultra lux and exclusive), Lincoln (affordable lux), and Ford (everyone else)?

With Ford Motor Co. possibly considering selling off some of its brands, what three (Ford and...?) do you think should make up the future automaker? The original three (Ford/Mercury/Lincoln)? Specialized (Ford handles all cars; Land Rover handles all SUVs; and Mazda handles everything Japanese)? Think how Toyota has three brands (Toyota, Lexus, and Scion) to handle the market.

This is just my opinion based on what I would like to seem not what I think what would be best for Ford.

Get rid of Mazda, Jaguar, volvo and Aston Martin before they go down with the ***

Ford needs to figure out that Mercury is dead and they aren't bringing it back. There are just too many companies out there right now for an ailing company like forward to try and take on everyone. They need ot find a few markets and go after them. Does Lincoln even seel anything besides a few rebadged Ford SUVs? What odes Mercury sell? I can't tell yo the last time I noticed a new Mercury on the road, I'm sure they are out there I just haven't noticed any.
