I just bought a used 2000 Acura Integra. It came with tires that are relatively new (very little wear showing). However, three of the tires are Mirada Sport GTX tires and one is a BFG Traction *** All of the tires are P195/55R15 V rated tires. The shape of the BFG is slightly different (edges are more squared than the Miradas) and the tread pattern is different. Also, the BFG is uni-directional and the other three are non-directional, so cross rotation will be an issue. Right now the odd tire is on the back, driver's side. I am concerned about handling differences, especially when the BFG gets rotated to the front.
Is having one (slightly) odd tire a problem???
If so, should I replace the BFG so that all 4 are the same or replace one of the Miradas so that I can rotate the tires in pairs?
Cost would be about the same either way . . . I can pick up a BFG locally, but will have to mail-order a Mirada.
TIA!
Bob

You always want matching tires on axles, I always prefer matching tires all the way around.
If the others are very new I would by one tire so you have matching tires all the way around. I have never heard of mirada tires, so I cant vouche for their quality.

Thanks for the input. I feel more comfortable with matching tires, too . . . at least on the same axle.
I am not sure how old or new the tires are. The treads are deep and even the fine siping is intact. Also, the tires still have the knobby rubber strings on the sides from when they were made.
I have nto been able to find a lot about Mirada tires, as far as user opinions or ratings. I found some info on the BFG's, though . . . most of the write-ups say that they are slightly better than average, but lots of noise at highway speeds.

I just bought 4 Mirada Sport GTX VR Tires based on a recommendation from a Tire Shop Owner I take my cars to for honest work. He raved about them. I trust him but since they are new I was also looking for reviews and came up short. They are smooth and pretty quiet. If you haven't bought one to match yet, I'll let you know how they do perfomance wise once I've torn around in them more.

The only diffrence you may feel is when pushing the car hard or you might see diffrences in wear. It is nice to at least have the same tires on the same axle but it's not necessary. Just do it when you have the money.

Bob the reason the odd tire is on the back is because all!! tire companies say put the newer tire on the back with the best traction tire of the other three. TIRE ROTATION ALTERNATIVE
CONVENTIONAL ROTATION:
The vehicle has 4 new tires which are rotated front to back every 6000km. On a front wheel drive vehicle having 60% of its weight on the front and 40% weight on the rear each rotation adds 10% more traction to the front than the back. At the beginning of the rotation the vehicle has 70% traction on the front and 30% traction on the rear. When the tires are down to 1/4 tread depth the vehicle has 750hrs of driving time left until the tires are replaced, on 4 tires which have less than 25% tread.
ALTERNATIVE ROTATION: The tires are rotated from side to side. When the front tires need to be replaced the new tires are mounted on the back, the rear tires are moved to the front. Only 2 tires are replaced at a time. The traction problem due to the weight difference is also partially corrected and at any one time the vehicle is only driven for 250hrs on two tires which have less than 1/3 tread
