" Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., will launch a voluntary Special Service Campaign with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to replace the crankshaft position sensor on certain 2001 through early 2002 model year ECHO and Prius vehicles. The connector for the crankshaft position sensor may become disconnected."

Basically it's a recall. How many is this for Toyota now? Three? Four?

Toyota is having so many recalls because more and more vehicles are being a$sembled in North America. You can not compare Japanese build-quality to Mexican build-quality.... they are in 2 different leagues. Hopefully Toyota gets their act together before they lose the crown.

From my understanding the cause's more on Toyota's standardization and use of the same parts across a variety of models. If the part's from a vendor or the design's flawed, it shows up real fast and in large numbers.
