Does anybody know what and where the squeak is coming from . It is under the hood and I also hear it on several of the Taxicabs in my area. When I release the hood the noise stops

I know the bushings in the front suspension can cause a lot of squeaking, but I didn't think of driving with the hood open to solve this problem.

When you open the hood on either side you will see two rubber pads that have adjusting screws. They provide tension on the hood when it is closed. Try unscrewing each one (i.e., raising it) a turn or two to provide a bit more tension.
I had the squeak problem, and was told that it was probably in the steering linkage, control arm, etc., but noticed that (1) I could create the squeak simply by closing the door, and (2) the squeak went away when the hood was up. That was because it was the hood rubbing on the rubber pads.
