E-Types are arguably the worlds first supercar. It was streetable and at the time the only car that could cruise comfortably at 150 all ***
I think the miata is considered one of the best because it is one of the most fun cars to drive, yet is completely affordable.

anyone else find it kind of odd they didn't put a single vette on there, if they put the miata on because it is affordable and fun i think the vette should be recognized as well

A thread like this could be argued to no end.

I've never seen a Miata on the same list with Lamborghini's and Porsche's. Very odd list.

Was the Subaru Impreza always categorized as a sports car? Just wondering.. I thought it was always some other class.

the term "sports sedan" would work best. even though it out-performs most "sports cars" it is still a four door (making it a little more impressive). before the WRX showed up, the US n/a Subaru Impreza was available in 2 or 4 door -
here is the watered down US version: http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/jc/images/99rs_impreza2.jpg
here is the beefed up version kept away from us (arguably still better than the current US STi): the 22b STi - http://img.autohome.com.cn/2006/1/6/6-10-30-40-601675588.jpg
if the current Impreza offered a similar coupe body... game over
